Soirée de Nadezda

If music is part of art, and art is part of life, why should we limit ourselves to just music in concerts? In 2018, I launched the 'Soirée de Nadezda' series, where, as a pianist and programmer, I provide a platform that offers a refreshing perspective on various forms of art, with classical music at its core.

Grote Archipel

The opus magnum of the Dutch composer Daan Manneke is a musical work that Nadezda Filippova found so captivating during the premiere in 2018 that she wished to add it to her repertoire. The piece is imbued with a sense of spaciousness. Moreover, the composer used Dutch poetry as a source of inspiration, which is cited as an epigraph for each movement. These poems deepen the understanding of the music and fit perfectly within the concept of the concert series.

What does silence do to our brain?

In our busy times, meditation is gaining popularity. This falls under the so-called self-care, and there are many apps and books dedicated to it. But what does it mean to actually experience silence in our brain?

Vinkepeezer (Ivo Bol), the special guest of the evening, composes with found sounds, old and new electronics, crackles and clicks from LPs and tapes, samplers, synthesizers, and even plants. He has been interested in neuroscience for some time. During the evening, he will demonstrate what happens in his brain during meditation using modern technology. Both composed and improvised music will accompany this experience, performed by Nadezda Filippova at the piano. Alexandra Loembé will guide the evening with dance, focusing on the flow of our thoughts and inner awareness.

A perfect evening to take some time for yourself in the busy month of December.

Leonard Bernstein and His Contemporaries

In September 2023, the film “Maestro” was released, about the life of the remarkable musician Leonard Bernstein. He was a famous conductor, composer, pianist, and music educator from the USA. American classical music is still not very popular in Europe, and this made pianist Nadezda Filippova curious to explore the New York music scene of the 20th century: George Gershwin, Aaron Copland, and Samuel Barber.

Tradition and Renewal

Honorine Schaeffer - Cello

Nadezda Filippova - Piano

Life is unpredictable, filled with surprising encounters and unforeseen events. Honorine Schaeffer and Nadezda Filippova met during the pandemic. Their concert was canceled due to the lockdown, but this brought the musicians together through music. It was a special moment because it is rare for two people to feel music so deeply that they don't need words to understand each other. In their programs, Honorine and Nadezda combine their love for their home countries, France and Russia, which are also historically closely intertwined. This evening, they will perform, among other pieces, sonatas by Claude Debussy and Sergei Prokofiev.

Women in Music

Soprano Elizaveta Agrafenina has proven herself to be a remarkable talent with a broad repertoire. Her special interest lies in music by female composers, which is still rarely heard on concert stages today. During their program this evening, Nadezda and Elizaveta will show their artistry in song, presenting challenges for both the singer and the pianist.
